Nature of Practice and Areas of Expertise
In my practice I focus on developing a collaborative and client centered understanding of presenting problems (the case formulation) together with tailor-making treatment programmes using either cognitive behaviour therapy or metacognitive therapy. My areas of expertise are:
Addictive behaviours, in particular alcohol use, gambling, nicotine use and technology.
Anxiety problems, in particular generalised anxiety and worry, panic attacks, phobias and social anxiety.
Depression and rumination.
Occupational functioning, such as achieving better life-work balance, improving cognitive performance, managing work-related stress and tackling performance anxiety.
Approval by Insurance Providers
I am an approved cognitive behaviour therapy practitioner with a number of heathcare insurance providers. In most instances I will be prepared to see clients without a referral. However, if a client is registered with a private healthcare insurer and wants to claim the cost of treatment a referral from their GP or a psychiatrist may be necessary in order to cover fees.
You can refer to the British Psychological Society (BPS), the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and the Metacognitive Therapy Institute (MCT-I) websites if you wish to see details of my professional registrations.
